Committee on Media (COM)
First set up as Task Force on Media in June 2003. The goal was to explore how to share the workload of recording of the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) TV programs among the eight UGC libraries. During the course of discussions, the Task Force concluded in its Report to JULAC that there was a need to focus on a) uniform licensing for all members institution and b) standardizing current practices in programme recording and digitization for not only RTHK but also for programmes produced by two other networks: ATV and TVB. The Task Force has also discussed on possible collaboration in cooperative cataloguing, sharing master copies in the DVD-R format and VOD files. In June 2004, a formal JULAC Committee on Media was established to tackle these issues and to monitor/promote future cooperation among JULAC libraries on matters related to media. COM Membership
