Theme: Open Access – the Crossroads
Date: Wednesday, 15th January 2020
Venue: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
The Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC), will hold a staff forum, entitled “Open Access – the Crossroads” in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on 15th January 2020.
The libraries of the eight publically-funded Hong Kong institutions of higher education have a long history of collaboration through JULAC. The JULAC Libraries Forum provides a platform for JULAC library colleagues to discuss and share their experience and expertise on key issues and the latest developments in the library field.
In addition to the main theme of “Open Access – the Crossroads”, the 2020 JULAC Libraries Forum will also cover the following topics:
- Emerging technologies and digital services
- Learning strategies
- Learning spaces and collections
- Research support and data management
The JULAC Libraries Forum Organizing Committee would like to invite each JULAC library to give one to two presentation(s) on their latest projects and developments related to Open Access or any of the above topics. It is the Organizing Committee Members’ belief that we can all learn from each other by sharing of frank information on the achievements and future challenges facing each JULAC institution.
The length of each presentation will be 10-15 minutes. In the case of joint presentations, only one speaker is required to deliver the presentation on stage.
Call for Presentations
Each library is invited to submit the topic of its presentation(s) and the name(s) of the presenter(s) to its respective representative in the JULAC Libraries Forum Organizing Committee by 19th August 2019. As attempts will be made to balance the number of presentations on each topic area, each library may submit a presentation topic of its second choice as well. The presentation topics of the libraries should be in line with the themes and topics of the Forum.
A 50-100 words abstract of the presentation is to be submitted by 8th October 2019. By 3rd January 2020, presenters will need to submit the PowerPoint slides (a maximum of 20 slides) of their presentations for pre-forum release on the JULAC website.
The full programme will be available on the JULAC website in October 2019. A copy of this Call for Presentation would be available at JULAC website.
