3+3+4=A Perfect Ten?: The Challenges of
Excellent Library Services

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

JULAC is holding a forum for the staff of the JULAC Libraries

  • to share knowledge about how their libraries are responding to 3+3+4 and
  • for JULAC to brief staff on its future directions, including 3+3+4, as well as reviewing its activities for 2010.

The forum will be divided into two key segments. The first being presentations from the JULAC Chair and several JULAC Directors on the current projects and future directions for JULAC. After the presentations from the Directors there will be a panel session where JULAC staff can address questions to the panel comprising of the JULAC Directors.

The second part of the forum will be presentations from staff from the eight libraries on how their libraries are responding to the challenges of 3+3+4. The second part of the forum will be divided into themed parallel sessions. Each library is invited to present a minimum of one paper and a maximum of two papers on any of the following themes and 3+3+4

  • Learning Spaces (Learning Commons, buildings, services, staffing, etc.)
  • Learning Strategies (information literacy, outreach services, e-learning initiatives reference services, etc.)
  • Collections (collection development, e-resources, digitization, preservation, etc.)
  • Technologies (systems, IT, IApps, mobile applications, etc.)

Each presentation will be approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Presenters will be advised on the required length of their presentation after the program has been finalized. At the end of the presentations for each themed parallel session there will be a 15-20 minute question and answer session for the presentations given in that session.

Call for Presentations

Could each library submit the names of their presenters, topics and a short summary (50-100 words) of the presentation to their representative on the JULAC Library Forum Organising Committee by December 17th 2010. Presenters will need to submit the PPT’s of their presentation to their representative on the JULAC Library Forum Organising Committee by February 11th 2011. The program and the PPTS will be available on the JULAC website after February 16th 2011. http://www.julac.org/events/index.html
