Consortiall

Consortiall is the central JULAC committee for the purchase of scholarly products that assist our university communities in their work, including the purchase of library collections in any medium or language. Consortiall was first established in May 1999 as a task force, which in turn became the Collaborative Development Committee, CDC. In November 2008 CDC's title was changed to Consortiall to reflect the changes and broadening of CDC's role.

Guidelines for license negotiation

Consortiall has compiled a set of general guidelines for license negotiation with the aim of providing terms of reference for use by JULAC member libraries during the negotiation processes.

JULAC Major Purchase Programs

HKMAC

Established in 2005 the Hong Kong Monograph Acquisitions Consortium (HKMAC) enables the eight libraries to use their collective purchasing power to purchase English language print monographs at a very significant discount.

ERALL

Through the UGC funding for the Electronic Resources Academic Library Link (ERALL), the JULAC libraries have purchased over 16,000 English language e-books with perpetual access for multiple simultaneous users. The purchased e-books cover a wide range of subjects to support the UGC funded programmes. As part of the Electronic Resources Academic Library Link (ERALL) project, an international conference "Emerging Paradigms for Academic Library E-Book Acquisition and Use: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities", was held in June 2008 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The conference aimed to promote the exchange of experiences and best practices in strategic collection development, acquisitions, promotion and use of e-books . Conference presentations can be found at http://dspace.cityu.edu.hk/handle/2031/4.
